Chapter-3 :Transportation
Lesson
plans are provided to guide the teachers with a systematic plan to
design their teaching learning activities and thus help them to be
confident and efficient in the classroom.
All the organisms need
nutrients, gases, liquids etc. for growth and maintainance of body. They also
need to send these materials to all parts of their body. In multicellular
organisms a separate system is needed to it. This separate system is called
circulator system. But in unicellular organisms these may not have to be
transported to long distances. These are transported through a simple process
like diffusion and osmosis. The human circulatory system consists of heart,
blood and blood vessels. Heart is the vital organ of human beings. It pumps the
blood into blood vessels at regular intervals. If we keep our finger at wrist
we feel the pressure of blood moving in it. This is called pulse. The rate of
pulse are equal to the rate of heartbeats. The pulse rate goes up after
running. The pulse shows the heartbeat. In new born babies the heartbeat (pulse
rate) is 100 to 150 times per minute and in adults it is 60 to 100 times per
minute.
